Approximately 140 first-responders were deployed to an active hazardous materials incident at the intersection of Green Bay Road and 29th Street on April 25, 2019. The spill of anhydrous ammonia had a major impact on the people of Beach Park and surrounding communities. The village worked closely with the emergency responders to assure that our residents were notified as quickly as possible while the situation unfolded. Residents who are registered in the village emergency notification system received updates via direct phone call, e-mail or texts at 5:45 am, 8:55 am and 10:00 am. Click here to register for the village emergency notification system. These updates were also provided on the village social media sites at: Nextdoor, Twitter and Facebook.

The village appreciates the work of the Beach Park Fire Protection District, the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, police officers from nearly twenty area police departments, and all of the firefighters who risked their lives today to help others. This kind of cooperation is what makes this part of Lake County a wonderful place to live.
